Brescia focuses on developing broad range of services
Brescia airport is advancing towards the goal of becoming a top logistics platform, sales development manager Michele Useli affirms.
A number of new buildings are planned to facilitate airport cargo operations. A 3,500m2 building will be completed soon to support the existing 3,000m2 operations building, while a 1,100m2 building dedicated to special shipments began operations in January.
"Brescia has proved itself to be the most competitive and flexible airport in northern Italy, not only in terms of costs, but also for the other services it can offer such as 24/7 operations, flexible time for Customs operations and extensive trucking network covering northern Italy and souther Europe."
Thanks to new and improved facilities, the fuel supply at Bresca now costs 20 to 30 percent less, which will attract carriers working on long-haul, non-stop routes, Useli believes.
The gateway uses HERMES cargo handling software, which has "new features to improve every aspect of a modern, service-oriented, efficient and profitable air cargo terminal".

Operations can be found in Turkey, India, Hungary and most recently, Germany, where a new facility that is based within Europe's third business airport has been set up.

With architecture and strategy phases now complete, the go-live date was set for January 2011, which has given the teams at Celebi and HERMES time to provide staff with detailed information on the system, including a revised set of working procedures. With future plans and ambitions set at the highest levels, Celebi is intending to roll out the HERMES solution within additional facilities, ensuring a consistency of excellence throughout all the warehouses.
